Catalog 3rd Anniversary Sale
Catalog – Playdate’s on-device app store that is also very browser- and mobile-friendly – is THREE YEARS OLD. (Also, this site you’re on right now just turned two. Happy birthday to us!) What better way to celebrate than with a big sale? Panic released a fun infographic about how they have 423 games on the store (there are even more since this was posted) and have paid out $1,399,393.69 to developers. Not too shabby! Out of the 400+ games on Catalog, around half of them are on sale: 200+ games, many getting their first-ever or best-ever discounts. Load up!
If you’re only allowed to buy one thing and you don’t have it yet, I’d cheat and get the entirety of Season 2: it’s 21% off, bringing the normal $39 price down to just $31 for 12 full games as well as the changes-every-week cable-TV-from-space Blippo+. All the games are available individually at discount, as well, and I wrote about all of them on the main page if you’re on the fence about any of them.
Checking now, I’ve actually written about almost 150 games on here already, wowza. And most of those games are on sale! I don’t want to necessarily single out what’s BEST, because look: if it’s on Playdate Unofficial, it has something to offer and you’ll get something good out of it. BUT! Look at what’s just one single dollar right now: ICY DUNGEON, CODA, Little House, Jump the Crank, Life’s Too Short/A Christmas Spirit/On Reflection, The Keyper, The Game of the Goose, Subdivision, and Lillybug.
Okay actually let’s look at some notable discounts, too. Diora just came out and is already $5 off. RowBot Rally is 20% less than normal. Outside Parties does things that no other Playdate games do and is down to ten bucks. You can get 20 hours out of Under the Tree for 33% off. “Weird Zelda” game HANA is about as cheap as it’s ever likely to be. Get 20% off Carte Blanche so you can learn how to play cards with your grandma. Combat-free Metroidvania games don’t get better than Echo: The Oracle’s Scroll.
And then there’s Voidblazers. Cherry Hill. Solar Descent. Hall of the Dwarf King. Terratopia. Mars After Midnight. Stars of the Screen. You can get so many great games for so little money right now.
The very nature of me being just one person and having 200 games on sale means I haven’t had a chance to write about or play them all just yet, but let’s take a look at some that aren’t on this site and still deserve a look!
We’ve got the very Intelligent Qube-looking BLOXZY getting its first discount after just releasing a month ago. Use your Playdate for online voice chat with helloyellow. The latest Powerdive Games offering Shattered Wilds is part Terraria, part Minecraft, and all Playdate. Platform lovers can check out sing-song ding-dong. Piña Rollada is basically Super Monkey Ball and even uses the Playdate’s accelerometer, while Tatters of the King is a noir Pulp adventure with spooky stuff.
And finally, don’t forget about the wishlist feature on Catalog. You’ll get an email when something you’ve had your eye on gets a discount. Looks like it’s time for me to finally pick up Backbeat, Cascada, and Oquonie.
With everything that the Playdate community has built over the last three years (and that’s just the time that Catalog has been in existence – there are over 1,500 Playdate games tagged on Itch now), there’s sure to be something you’ll like that you maybe haven’t even heard of before today. For the $70 that a new AAA game on home consoles costs, you can have SO MUCH FUN on the Playdate. Dig in! The sale is on until March 19, 2026.
