Paco & Lily

Tijn and Jazzie made Voidblazers together, and it was just terrific. They also made Panic! at the Patch, which was part of the fourteen games included in the Ware-wolf Campfire Stories Halloween Pulp compilation game (still free to enjoy!). This time, however, Tijn made a new Pulp game by himself, and he made it just for Jazzie. She liked it, so they have shared it with us!

Paco & Lily is a 10-15 minute Pulp game where you play as a frog (you can pick from either of the two title characters at the start of the game, and there’s not really any difference gameplay-wise). Your job is to set up a special night for your frog partner: set the mood, get a good present, and find a nice place to sit. So you wander around, helping other forest creatures with their problems as you check things off your list. There aren’t any negative consequences for anything or fail states, and it’s just so sweet and pleasant.

I’m imagining Tijn making this in secret for days and days then asking Jazzie to help him playtest it like any other game they work on together, only for it to be revealed that it’s actually a marriage proposal. It’s one of the most adorable things I’ve ever heard. She said yes! Try it out for yourself and give them a little tip so they can do whatever people in Amsterdam do for honeymoons.

Congrats to the happy couple! Hopefully Playdate can be a part of many other people’s happiness in the future, because things are going pretty well in the present!
